After I had visited the parliament, I was greatly inspired the parliament was grand and special. To be able to walk the place which othrer minsters such as Lee Kuan Yew have walk, I was honoured.
What I had learnt there was benefitcial to me, the parliament was a debate with more difficulty. What I disliked that the refreshment is poor. However, I had learnt now a bill become a law.

It was really a eye-opening experience for me to go to the parliament, as normally I could only saw it on television and now I could go in there. Furthermore, the moot parliament enknowledged me to know more about the structrue government of Singapore. Moreover, it also help me in the chapter of good governance in Singapore, by feeling the atmosphere there myself. The most memorable activity of the moot parliament was the debate. It was really quite funny and excited , to see my classmates acting as the oppositions, MPs and even the Prime Minister for the debating.Eventually, I knew that the parliament had went through a serious debating after making a important decision related to the country.

Sry for the late hand in.. I have problem getting here.. Anyway, i got a memorable time there.. In the parliament, i have learn something more than what i can learn from the class.. It is kinda fun.. Although the time is short but i knew it would be useful for us as we might not know that we might be any of the minister in the parliament.. If we don't learn it, we might throw our face in front of all the minister next time when we walk into the parliament.. Thus, i hoped eveyone would get a hang of how the parliament work.. And good luck for the 'O' levels ba.. Good luck to everyone and work hard and study hard but don't forget to play hard too..!! Don't punish me.. Haha.. ^^

Indeed, a memorable trip down to the parliament was extremely exhilarating, cum a some form of seriousness. An eye-opener is all i can say as this may be the first and last time i may be entering the parliament.Or maybe not...I have gotten a better understanding of how this whole system of setting up laws is, knowing that each procedure is crucial in ensuring that the country would run as perfectly as possible. Therefore, we should empathize with the government's efforts in making the best out for us...Talking about the facilities, WOW...Nothing but the best was seen as i enter. Cool. Ain't that cool? it's kinda of cool to me, isn't it cool to you? Overall, it's very cool...whatever it maybe let's juz hope that our government may squeeze their brain juice for a better law for their people....

MODE PARLIAMENT
The whole trip to the parliament was an interesting experience...the video let us had a better understanding of how parliament run and function...the trip to the parliament had given me a better understanding of the chapter GOOD GOVERNANCE...we got a chance to visit the strangers room...a lady explain how a bill is introduced and further debated... learnt that the minister has the authority of power when the minister is debating when the maze is placed on the brackets...the fun part was at a mini parliament whereby some of our friends debated on the bill...it was an interesting debate...the points brought out was good...the favourite phrase during the debate was USING YOUR LEFT HAND TO SCRATCH YOUR RIGHT EAR... and ROBBING PETER AND RETURNING THE MONEY TO PETER.... The trip to the moot parliament was indeed a fruitful one and a enriching experience for me. I get to learn the history and traditions of the parliament, the various function and personalities in the House. I felt that the level of security was rather too high, everyone have to take out their belongings for inspection, cameras were not even allowed in the Parliament. =.=
Inside the Parliament, is like going to a grand Palace, everything there was so high-tech and elegant, the sophisticated audio-visual system, television, cameras and the electronic voting system was truly amazing. The debate at the specially designed moot Parliament chamber was a memorable and unforgetable one. We get to be the speaker, Prime ministers, the leader of opposition and other ministers for that day. I have learned alot of the Parliaments proceedings, observe how laws are made, listen to the "ministers" and "MPs" debate on the policies and also the details of the proposed Bills. The debating session was fun and entertaining.
Seriously, through this visit, I have learned importance of the Parliamentary system.

The moot parliament trip was a fruitful one. I got to see how impressive Singapore's parliament house is. The infrastructure and the interior design of the building, as well as security were so cool. Singapore's government is very well disciplined and organised, which make a very good role model for other countries to follow. Afterall, Singapore is known for her good governance.
Thank you all for reading.

Before I went for the moot parliament, i had expected it to be a boring school outing. But when i went through the moot parliament, i found out more information about my country and how government work and sort things. This made me a little interested in joining a party. However, the most unforgettable experience that i had in the moot parliament is to be able to act as the sergeant at arms(i am not sure how to spell it). I think that this is an honour for me and although this maynot mean much to others, i will always remember this special day.

The trip to me was very meaningful. I have gained much more knowledge about the leading authority of our country .As expected; security was very strict and was about the same as the customs in the airport and causeway. Well, what’d you expect? It is supposed to prevent any saboteurs’ from entering and destroying the place. Besides that, it looks grand and majestic like a palace. The video was great to tell anyone the history of the parliament house. We also got a glimpse of the old parliament house in the video as well as outside the new parliament house. It was also interesting and in telling us about the Parliament’s history.
The stranger’s gallery was also a good way for us to view the parliament. Stranger seems to be the wrong word. Well, too bad for the history says so.
The stranger’s gallery is good, but there is some part that I cannot see when I was there they should build as a passage way in the middle so that we can see the whole parliament. Next was the chamber where the class conducted the debates. Although it was a short 2 hours, I could imagine how a MP would feel every Parliament meeting. They have to sit there and wait. It would be worse for the ministers. They have to answer many things during the parliament and it seems very tense. How you agree after a speaker finished their speech was rather interesting. You have to go ‘hear hear” if I am not wrong.
The debate was rather clear on deciding the winner. The no seems to be much clearer, stronger and louder. Well I guess no one wants a GST increase. That means more money needed to pay right?
Well, it was a great and invaluable experience for me. Besides a few hiccups on the way and I shan’t mention it since it concerns me, the excursion was pleasant. Thanks to the teachers for organizing trip! I had definitely benefited greatly from it

PARLIAMENTThe trip to the Parliament was indeed a fruitful one. And the debate was thoroughly enriching even though i screwed my own.Through the debate, i have a greater understanding of what is GST (yes, i don't even know what does GST stand for).I also get to know terms like GDP, and the GST offset package and i realised that Singapore actually had quite a lot of money. At first when i got the bill, i was like "HUH, what is GST?", but now if u ask me about GST i could at least tell you what it means.A parliament 'debate' is very different from our normal debate. We couldn't clap our hands(weird!) and the that we address must be to the speaker instead of the proposition/opposition speaker.my first thought when i see the maze(it is spelled like that?) was that why they have to waste so much time to bring in the maze and to put at the brackets but now i know that the maze signified the authority of the speaker and in the parliament the speaker have absolute power. The speaker can determine the winner. Lastly, I think that all singaporeans should do their part and be more concern about Singapore's government and the laws that is passed down. If there is a chance i would like to visit the parliament house with my classmate again.shuwei=)

PARLIAMENT REFLECTION (VANESSA)
The trip to the parliament was rather fruitful and enriching. I remembered I went in with utmost curiosity as I have never been in such an honourable place before. At the same time, I was mindful about the security there too. Expectedly, we went through a series of checks and those with bags were given a card which resembles a "key" used in hotels. The parliament looked like those 5-stars hotels with those beautiful and classy furnishings. We first watched a video on Singapore's parliament history at the auditorium. Though the video was not up to date, I had learnt something through the short video. Especially, on what we had learnt recently during social studies lessons, how laws and bills are being passed down. Additionally, i got to know the names of several posts which i have only came about this trip.
Next, we went to the Strangers' Galleries which is meant for 'strangers to the parliament' (visitors). From there, we can see the Chamber which was below us. i cannot believe my eyes then. I am actually looking at the REAL Chamber, not the one on TV. That was so cool! The gallery itself was superb enough, with a audio translator for several languages. You just have to choose the channel that you desire and listen to it through the headphone. All the high technology!! Later on, we headed for the debate. It was a pity though, that we were unable to hold the debate in the Chamber itself. Anyway, it was held in the moot chamber which kind of look like the real chamber. Shirleyn was appointed as the Clerk, Huahan as the Sergeant-At-Arms and Weijie as the Speaker. It was enjoyable to be listening to the debate held as a sitting. The feel was different and it turned out to be very solemn. The language used was also very different from the ones used during usual debate. Oh yes, clapping is considered to be uncivilised. We have to 'applause' by saying "Hear" (is it spelt this way?) and if we agree to something, we are supposed to say 'Aye' and reply 'No' if we don't. Although I'm not one of those debators, I agreed that Mathew speaks very well. Anyway, all the debators did a great job! Hooray!
The result of the debate was the opposition that WON!!!No one wants GST to increase. Therefore, the NOs won. A mace was also presented to the parliament by our principal, Mrs Ang. It was a very refined Mace made by our school teachers themselves. The parliament loved it. Their hard work paid off! We were told that the mace would be used for other school visits too. It is indeed an honor, isn't it?Before we went off, we took some pictures outside the parliament. We were told that we are not supposed to take pictures directly outside gate of parliament. I also realised that the washroom was very clean. Though i had expected it to have 5-stars decor, it turned out to be a simple. In all, I personally hope that I can visit the parliament again one day and that other secondary school students to also get a chance to visit the parliament. The trip can be weighed to be unforgettable, fascinating and wonderful. Hereby, I would like to thank both the teachers and parliament for making this awesome educational trip a successful one!Vanessa Toh (18)

The trip to Parliament was indeed a wonderful experience for me. It was my first time going to the Parliament House. The level of security there was very high, as if you were checking in at the airport. One funny thing i note was that all the policemen there was private. The highest i seen was a CPL. The furnishing of the Parliament House is really superd. It looks like a 6 star hotel, only that its a government property. We only get to visit the strangers gallery. The tour guide explained to us about the different facillities of the seating room. They even have a plama TV, High Tech. Anyway, it was quite dissapointing as this year they cut down on the places of visit. So the next stop was the debate. It was really a good debate as both the Government and the Opposition brought out good and interesting points. the result was a resounding victory for the Opposition. No one vote for the Government, GST was not increase. Here Here! But in reality, GST is going to raise, SAD! It was really a great experience and i beieve that no one would say that it was a waste of time as we learn new things like the role of different people and the proceedings. So yupps, it was difinitely a time worth experience. Perhaps the humanities department will ogarnise more study trips lik this or overseas trip.Hahas.
Take Care People,

The trip to the moot parliament is definitely a great experience for me as it was my first time there and it was indeed an eye opening. At first, I expected the place to old and the trip to be boring. But when we reach there, I know I was wrong about the place. The place there look very grand and i felt that the debate was great. I have a better understanding on how the laws are made after the trip and also know that during any hearing there should not be any clapping as it is consider as uncivlised. This trip was indeed an enriching lesson for all of us.

MooT Parliament TRip
As for me the moot parliament trip was an
Awesome experience for me. However it was a pity we could not take photos as it was really a huge and ''high class'' place. During the trip,I learnt how the parliament functioned and where are MPs seated during hearings. The best part was the was the moot parliament as I was being appointed to be act the role of the speaker ^-^. I felt quite shy when everyone bowed to me and felt more like a teacher than the speaker.Phew, this is once in a life time experience for me and I would like to thank my form teacher Mr.Arasu for giving me this opportunity. If given another chance I would visit the parliament again.Think I would stop here now. Take care Guys.... :-) BY: Wei jie (23)

MOOT...PARLIAMENT
Yo!!! Wen Jun here. Here talkin abt that parliament session. That moot parliament session was indeed an EYE-POPPING experience for me... Initially, the night b4 i did not know wat time 2 report when florence sms me... then i sought for thinkin... rmb mr arasu say b4 8am... aiya, just tell her 7.15am, just in case late... Then on that day when i reach sch, SIANX.... only saw the opposition ministers... then got 2 wait till 8am... At abt 8.15am we set off to the parliament! On the bus, haohan, mathew and bingyang were gossiping... but I LIKE... Then at parliament house... WOW... the parliament house looks like some typical 5-star hotel around CBD area... when we were abt to enter the gate... there already got 2 security guard checking on our baggages... so bai chi lor... they thought we illegal immigrant meh, still must check de, so mai fan... Then inside the parliament house... still nid to check our bag again... wth... but the i like it... feeling like at airport... with infrared scanner... body scanner... i even had metal detection... hahas.... so COOL!After which, we r led by our tour guide... the place is damn big... everything looks so classy... we even had PROJECT RUNWAY... we went pass many galleries and trhen we enter an observe room with a weird name called "Strangers' Gallery". At first, i thought, why r we addressed as strangers? Are we strange??? They might as well put there "Aliens' Gallery", that sounds more nicer... ok thats lame... After which, the tour guide took us look around the real parliament session hall... so awesome... but that place is abit small... Then later we enter the simulated parliament room where our ministers had their debate... then later the real battle starts...During the debate... everyone seem very tense and serious... dunno why leh... one of the funniest part is shirleyn wearing the suit... the suit seemed too large for her... she keep droping off the suit... there is one time when she wanted to stand her suit start to slip off from her back... SHE LOOKS LIKE GEISHA wearing costumes... hahas... another time is haohan... when he says... "I'M THE MP" ... bingyang nearly LAUGH OUT LOUD in the room... that was so funny.... another one is ying zhao... when she starts to speak... everyone look shocked... she spoke like machine gun sia... scare she become 'jiang hua you zhang ai' isit??? After nearly half-time, we had our long-awaited REFRESHMENTS!!! i peeked at the food outside the room, thought it was some buffet... when i exit towards the table of food and found that... its just only some biscuits... so heartbreaking... thought got SOON KUEH... haiz...After which, near the end of debate... the most hilarious part of the debate... during the voting session... "I" means voting for government and No" means voting for opposition group...eveyone do not say anything except for some government minsters who forcibly say "i...", then later most of us rebutted "No!", everyone laughed... we had a clear vote result that opposition team won...HOORAY!!!After the whold seesion, we had a class photo taken right outside the parliamnet house... that was so memorable...
11:10 PM
Today... we went to the parliament house
I thought it would be a boring trip.
Thats how i felt in the bus.
But it turned out to be something unexpected.
The place was so HIGH-TECH.
The "stranger's gallery" actually had a headphone.
All taxes we paid were used to buy such things...Hahas
I thought our debate would not turn out good. But we looked so professional, especially B.Y.The mace presentation was very meaningful.Thinking that our mace would be used by the parliament, i feel so proud! The place was so beautiful, but wad dirtied by "milo eruption" during break. The whole experience was very exciting.I get to know how laws come about.I feel so fortunate to have an experience at the parliament house. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity...EngTai™E.T. knows how to use computer =)
11:10 PM
A picture speaks a thousand words?
Then what about 2 pictures?
The security in the parliament is very tight. Even when Cvss students wanted to take pictures at the entrance, the security guards refused.
They seems to be happy=)
Many of my classmates have mentioned their encounters in the parliament . And i agree with their views.
The trip to the parliament was fun!! Indeed, it was a fruitful one=)
hear...Hear...HEAR? hahas.
Xueying=)

Moot Parliament~
The trip to the moot parliament is definitely a wonderful experience for me.
I never imagined that the parliament was so big.
From what I see on TV,
its a totally different world.
Its interesting to know how laws are made.
At first,
when i read the notes,
I couldn't make out how laws are made at all.
Now,
I finally know.
One trip to the parliament and all my doubts are cleared! =)
At first,
I felt that going for this trip was a total waste of time.
After the trip,
my thinking changed.
This trip is definitely worth the time =)
Thank you teachers for organising this trip for us.
Take care everyone,

Hi Folks, this is Wee Liang , aka M.oLe. Haha. Well, it was my 1st time going to the parliament house. It is definitely very fun and cool as it was our 1st time. The parliament house was a fantastic place(high-class looking, man). I learnt how the Ministers and MPs start their "meeting" at the parliament house in a professional way.Such as 1st reading, 2nd reading and etc.We even had a tour round the parliament house and found out some interesting places(like Strangers' Gallery, errr,Are we Strangers or Singaporeans?Haha)Definitely, THE TOILET ROCKS!VERY HIGH CLASS!HOW I WISH THAT WAS MY TOILET.WAHHH!I LOVE IT!HAHA. Of course, the fun part was the moot parliament where we could try it out as Minsters and MPs. Expected, I knew we,the Government Side, would lose.Haha. It was about class votes again.Haha.(Am I suppose to cry? Tears of Sadness cascaded down my cheeks.*Take it down in your phrase book.Haha) At the end of the whole trip, I learn quite a few things. 1st, our country has a strong government and we should learn to be grateful of their leadership skills. If not for them,we may be a vulnerable country. And also, we will like to thank the teachers who are i/c for the trip. If not for them, i think we may not be able to learn so many things.Haha. Thanks Teachers!Ok, I will stop here. Take Care folks.Wee Liang [22](^_^.) M.oLe

trip to parliament
The trip to the parliament was an enriching one.we get to learn the parliamentary procedures and enhance our learning.when i stepped into the parliament,my first impression was,"wow!what a huge palace.nevertheless, the security there was extremely tight!we had to undergo several checks before entering.the situation kind of tense up when undergoing through the checkpoints.but,it is still fun.after all the checks are done,we proceed to a room which looks like a mini 'theatre',that screened a video about the parliament.and sad to say,no popcorns!next,we were led by the patient tour guide to the strangers' gallery.and yes,we are strangers!we are strangers to the chamber.i thought we were having our debates at the chamber, but no.we were led to a room that is similar to the chamber, which we were going to have our debates there.things started to become serious, where we have to follow all sorts of procedures before debating. seriously,i think all the debators have put in tremendous efforts in preparing this debate.so,thumbs up for the debators!all in all,i think it's a wonderful experience to the parliament.

9:11 PM
Well, as for me, I find that the parliament trip was rather enjoyable and fruitful. Moreover, it was my first time going to the parliament. And I was amazed by how the chamber is distinguished and arranged.
Especially the REAL maze. It was really so beautiful. Although I did not get to see the real maze with my own eyes but only in the video that was screened to us, but I was totally "WOW-ing" over there.
In the Stranger's Gallery, I can really get to see the chamber. And to me, it was as though I'm seeing the real Parliament talks. Oh my ! Then when our class asked the staff personnel all sorts of question, my eyes was fixed on the Chamber. And when I spot those thick red and green books, I was wondering whether the Minister really read it all up and refer to it. *If I were them, I don't think I would ever touch it.Haha*
I never knew how a parliament works. I always watch it being broadcast on the news, but I've never ever went in before. Never did I expect I would enter PARLIAMENT !
Well, while we were in the "debate" well, it wasn't really like a debate, but I can really pictured every student in the Parliament as "Ministers and MPs" and we're debating on the new bill. Its really interesting.*Wondering whether any of us will become a REAL minister or MPs one day* (: I never new how a parliament works, needless to say how it look like.
After everything ended, it was time for the passover of the Maze made by Mr Lee and another teacher ( I forgotten his name, never mind), it was kind of grand. But I was very honoured when they head of Parliament (I suppsoe so) said that they will use this maze for every moot parliament. I mean, its really a privilege to be able have the maze made by our school, being use for EVERY moot parliament trip.( Its like, how many chances in life are you able to do that. A maze made by your own school in PARLIAMENT, a place whereby all Ministers and MPs goes to ) And so, I felt so proud. (Next time I can tell my friends that, plus more, the passing over was held during OUR CLASS TRIP TO PARLIAMENT)
I also realised that their toilet is really clean, but there's too little toilets I realised. I mean, there should be more cubicles in the toilet, rather than only one person can go at a time.) Oh, I also realise that Parliament looks like a hotel. Well, I had been to the Parliament in Canada, and the feeling of it was really different. I mean its like, its always the best in your own country right ? So ya, I was really fascinated. Although not much to see, but I gain much experience. Eg, How the Parliament works.
Overall, Parliament is a solemn place, and its really an honor to be able to enter to parliament. Hopefully, one day I can go to Parliament again. (:

Moot Parliament Trip..
HAHA!!! MOOT PARLIAMENT TRIP!?yap.. it's true that our class love OUTINGS!!because, we are able to learn more things. "Teach less, Learn More." Right?learning things not only within the text but also outside the textbook!!Well, that day (18-06) was indeed a very memorable day. This trip was very educational and enriching. Before this trip, I had ever wondered why and how policies were introduced and made. After this trip, there were answers to my questions.Ok, when you passed by the Parliament, you will think that it's a normal building with good furnishings outside. I TELL YOU!! The moment you stepped in the Parliament.. IT'S SPLENDID, GRAND & AWESOME!!! Hey.. 'Don't judge a building by its furnishings.' IT'S SUPERB!Guys of the other levels, when it's your turn to go there. You must open your eyes BIG BIG, ok? So that, you all will not regret.. Well, it's a pity that we can't bring cameras in... Of course, that's of because of security measures.Anyway, we must thank Mr Arasu for suggesting this trip to Parliament for students few years back time.. If not, we willn't have the chance to tour around or even know more about the Parliament and the politics. It's really 'eye-opening' when you see the Chamber from the Strangers' Gallery. WOW! Great name uh? Obviously, I was thinking, are they treating their citizens as strangers? So, who do they consider as citizens? HA!! anyway.. no offence, it's just thinking only..At that point in time, I find it important that the Speaker has to have the mace, which signifies his authority. Everyone has to stand when the three of them (the Serjeant-at-arms, Clerk and the Speaker) marched in, we have to bow to him when the Speaker reaches his seat, which is in the form of respect. Additionally, when he sits down, the Serjeant-at-arms has to place the mace on the Table of the House. And the sitting starts officially. That's kinda cool ar?Although I'm not in the debating team, I, myself standing in a minister's shoes is terrifying, I could feel the tensed atmosphere around me. Well, it doesn't matter whether the government side win or not, it does matter when we talk about experience. This is an unforgettable and good experience, it's like a treasure to me.Alright.. I'll stop here. Most importantly, THANKYOU TEACHERS!This is really a wonderful and exciting trip. We will remember this special day in heart and mind.Jie Lin (17)

during the trip to parliament, i learnt lot of thing. when we first enter there, we had a round of check. after that we were taken to tour around the parliament. it was so much like a hotel. all of us was so curious about it. the lift can even take half of our class in. after that we were taken to the "stranger gallery. "STRANGER GALLERY" it sound weird right? but it name this way. it a place where the public go when they want to sit in for the parliment meeting. after that it was our class debate. it was quite interesting. after each speaker had speak, we would shout "AYE". well, it was interesting. so who won in the end? of course it the opposition team!!! who would want a GST INCREASE??? in all, this parliament trip has indeed let me learnt about how singapore parliament worked. it was a wonderful experince which enable us to learnt many things.=)

The moot parliament visit was interesting. It would have been better if we can debate at the original place where the other mps have debated. It would be even better if the place is my house... register no.11
